From the condensed force of matter to the liberated space.
I believe that even the smallest unit of matter contains a condensed force and tension capable of filling an entire world. My work begins with discovering this latent potential within materials and tracing the journey of how it flows
through the human body and into the spaces we inhabit.
For me, 'materiality' is not merely a resource for creation. It is a gentle language that visualizes invisible flows of energy and a precious device that records the points of contact between my body and the world. Working primarily with metal, my practice is a process of dialogue with the material through repetitive and performative hours of cutting, polishing, and assembling. The works born from this time do not remain as static objects. Instead, they emerge as living 'phenomena' that breathe in harmony with light, shadow, gravity, and the movement of the viewer.
Years of working with finely crafted metals and jewelry have taught me a vital truth. The value of a material lies neither in its size nor its function. Rather, a tiny fragment held in the palm of a hand often contains the vast possibilities of an entire space. I now seek to gently release that solid, condensed force held within my hands, allowing it to expand freely into the fullness of space.
My wearable art functions as a 'moving sculpture' that follows the contours of the body, while my paintings and installations serve as records of an 'extended body' that has transitioned into space to take a momentary breath. By wearing the work, the viewer becomes part of the art. By walking through large scale installations, they are embraced by the quiet gravity created by the material. In these moments the body is no longer a mere observer but the most essential protagonist that completes the spatial experience.
While my practice is grounded in the precision of refined craft, I seek to dismantle and reconfigure that very perfection, dissolving the rigid boundaries between 'craft' and 'fine art.' My artistic journey is a process of translating the physical weight of matter into a quiet mental resonance and sublimity. On this path, I wish to continually ask how we exist within this space and how we sense one another.
